PRESENT Podiatry News Flash   February 21, 2020

End stage arthritis can often be debilitating. There is limited literature on quality of life before and after surgical intervention for ankle arthritis. Ankle arthrodesis and total ankle replacement are commonly used surgical interventions for treatment. This paper aims to measure changes in health related quality of life during the perioperative period for surgery for end-stage ankle arthritis, utilizing Ankle Osteoarthritis Scale, EuroQoL’s EQ-5D-3L, the Patient Health Questionnaire–9, and the pain intensity, interference with enjoyment of life, and general activity pain questionnaires. They reported on changes in health-related quality of life.
